I recently posted on this site for help and after a day and some exploring of this site I ran across a blog of a person who was fed up with the people only wanting money on this site. I see that he/she makes a valid point . It is true I put my post up mostly not sure what I was asking but would not turn down any help offered. But I will tell you this which is my story about the help from agencies out there. My story is this: My husband got laid off at the end of July. The company he worked for elimated his job and yes he did apply for unemployment which he was entitled to and which we are recieving but is due to run out very soon.. We survived on his checks till October when we thought we would go to our government agencies and ask for help. We filled out all the forms and went to there office and we waited for there answer about receiving food stamps and medical coverage. After the allotted time we received there answer and was told that we have to much household assets for any type of food stamp assistess . When we ask what that ment we were told that assets are assets and that is the only explanation we were given. So to this date we are receiving no food stamps to buy food I wasn't expecting much just enough to get through the month. Hoping that maybe I could keep ahead of my rent and car payment and other bills that we have. I would like also to say that yes we do have medical coverage, but I will also say that in the state of Illinois has a program in which all kids of lower income families are covered.It was to my surprise that we as a family are covered this is the only help we get from our government agency. We pay our own rent of 900 dollars and are probably about a 1000 dollars behind in that and we are 2 months behind in our car payment . We have pretty much stayed current on our other bills not sure how but we are.The reason why I put up our blog was that I know unemployment is going to run out and he is still looking for work which at this point he is willing to take anything . The government agencies don't always work they are abused by many so that when people are despert and need help they don't get it. That why some people are asking for money. I know some people would say well just go out and get a job and we are both working on that. I'm in the process of getting my GED and have not worked in 16 years so my job possibilities are few. He continues to look and fill out applications daily but nothing so far. I will say this much if we could survive with out the help from government agencies we would they do not make things easy and we have not always been treated well. The only reason we do ask for help is that we have 2 children and they need a warm place to live and food to eat and a good education. They are the ones we care about their wants and needs . So we trudge on doing our best and asking for help because we could really use it.

we are a family of 4. due to circumstances beyond our control last August my hubby lost his job and for the last 5 and a half months has been looking for work and has been unable to find any. For the last 17 years I have been a homemaker taking care of the kids. In August I started a GED coarse to get my dipolma. Which nowadays is required for a half way decent job. He has been trying to get a job in the computer field which he has some training for but it seems that what he waas doing now the requirements is that of a degree so he is having problems finding work. As of today we are not sure we will be able to pay rent this month and are pretty sure its just a matter of time before they repocess our vehicle. I'm not sure what it is I want to ask here but if any one could help it would be appreciated.
